I'm Pooped!!!!

Been awhile since I posted last! In the mean time I've been sick! Everyone in my families been sick! I have hosted Three Birthdays and now I'm just ready for a break!!!! I'm getting the kids costumes ready for Halloween! My daughters are being a witch, princess, and ice princess! Our son is going to be a Pug puppy since he is one year old!!!! I was thinking it will keep him warm!!!! Well still waiting on a camera so no pics sorry!!!! Big Prim Hugs To All!!!!

Its my Birthday Today!!!!

Its my birthday today! I'm another year older and another year wiser.....Well sometimes!!!! LOL!!!! I got my swap goodies from Colleen today! I love them so much! What a better day to received them! I'm loven life with my three daughters and one son and a wonderful loving husband!!!! Hope all is well in blog land!!!!

Pumpkins and more pumpkins! Now just what to do????

Hello to all of you! I've got all of my Harvest decorating done and now I'm just waiting for those produce stands to get those pumpkins in!!!! They told my best friend Shannon when she went that they will be getting them in in the next week or two!!!! Well I need some now lol!!!! I think for Halloween this year I am going with a theme! I think Glittered Purple and Black theme! That sound modern and yet I can Prim it up to be Primitive!!!! These pictures are some I found on line at HGTV I think I can't remember!!!! I'm ready for fall colors and cooler days

Hey there all of you wonderful prim crafters and just plain wonderful peeps! I've done it! .............................................YEAP! I am starting to decorate!!!! I figure it gives me more time to perfect everything! Outside is cool in the morning and it just made me antsy! So, up there going lol. I'm going to our twin baby nieces baby shower today! Brystol should be coming home in a week or two! Yeah, my kids are so excited to see there first baby cousins!!!! Its been a long three months! Its been awhile since
I posted last! I've been faithfully reading my favorite blogs though! Still no digital camera! I need to get on the ball! School starting I will have more time? Maybe? lol. Hope all is well with everyone! Update on the twins in the nic-u they are reaching 4lbs and doing great! We expect the better of the two to be home at the end of the month! Go Brystol!!!!

Hurry up fall

Wow! Its a scorcher out there! I always say that every summer lol! I think the hot is making me sick! I hibernate in the air lol. I have been tring to craft myself some prairie swags and that's not turning out so well! lol! I think I will be purchasing them! But, the panels I think are going to look better on my window anyway so I will try that! I don't have much of an update on anything so bye for now! Hugs Casey

A great place to visit to be transported back in time

Petersburg IL New Salem State Park. It is less then an hour away from me and it is a wonderful place to take your family and visit! The homes there are filled with Primitives and old prairie items! It is a must visit to all who have never been!

Yeah Christmas in July Swap!!!!!

Wowwy! I just got my christmas in july swap today from Jeanne at "Primstitch" and I LOVE IT!!!!!! I had to call her and express my thank yous over and over again!!!lol............ Pantry Labels

I got the most wonderful labels in the mail from blue* cupboard*primitives!!!! I purchaced them off ebay and let me tell you they are worth it!!!! I got the halloween set and I love them! Update Brylee and Brystol Are doing great

Hello blogging friends! I wanted to update all who have commented on my little nieces! They were born almost 3 and a half months early. They are a whopping 2 lbs now and doing great! The man pictured is there daddy bryce! They are off the monitors and doing fine!!!! Thank you to all who kept them in there prayers!!!!

Silicone dipped light bulb ideas

Dear prim buddies,
   I'm just taking a break from my crafting and cleaning to post! Its so nice out today I think I may wow! heeee! Well anyways I wanted to chat about some lovely ideas for these great little things!

 Idea #1. Silicone from wal-mart (mainstays) works great! But, have you ever dipped a Big bulb and it started smelling funny???? "Well I have!" So, I use this!!!! Automotive Silicone!!!!! Ta da!!!! It is made to withstand high heat!!!!

Idea #2. The color. Anyone getting tired with the plain color?
Try mixing OIL BASED PAINT with it! My favorites are brown and yellow mixed together!

Idea#3. Want your home to smell yummy? Add some oil to it!!!! The kind you use for your candle warmers or to freshen your pip berries!!!!
There are so many ideas out there but these are my favorites!!!!

     Just a shout out to my daughter Brianna who will  be giving up her title this year as little miss and giving  it to this years 2010 winner! You looked wonderful and we love you! My Primitive Bowl shelf

Hi to my prim buddies! Well my weekend project is my bowl holder shelf lol! I want one and I'm going to make one! Around where I lave the stores are very pricey. I think I could make one just fine and for less maybe I might need my Hubbies help but I can do it! I'm ready for this rain to stop so I can get some outside work done! Its eaither unsightly hot or rainy! lol

My idea for those old windows

I had a old window laying around with no use for it so I decided to put it to some good use! I gave it a quick paint job and sanding and then added a nice little shelf to it! I wanted to be able to put things on it! I added pics of my kiddos and its prim perfect!!!! I like it!!!!

Dollar Tree update!!!!

I just was in our local dollar tree and I seen that they are now carrying the flame less candles! I thought to myself?! YES!!!! I could make them into some pretty cute prim candles and so with a little mod podge and spices i did so! You can even drawl or paint on them as this one pictured! But I thought I would share that with you so you can check out your local Dollar Tree!!!!

Yesterday my sister in law Had a unexpected  arrival of her twin girls almost 3 and a half months early!!!! They are doing fine and only weighing out at 1 and 1/2 pounds that's amazing!!!! I am so proud of my brother and sister in law for the way they handled that day!!!! Congratulations and welcome to the world kiddos!!!! We wish you the best in the next 3 months stay at the hospital!!!!

Memorial Day ideas

Good day to all of you! Welcome back to olde spoon river homestead's blogspot! I have here a memorial background pic you can choose to use on your computers wall paper for tomorrow. I am using it as my wall paper!

 Next, I have a craft for the kids! This is a rock and you can buy some paints and let the little ones make flag rocks for Memorial Day!


   Last, I have a kid-friendly recipe for Strawberries! Cute for Memorial Day and easy for the kids to help with!
   Ingredients needed are as follows
1. Fresh Strawberries
2. Cream cheese
   3. Sugar
4.Red and Blue candy sprinkles

Directions are as follows

 Take cream cheeses and sugar and mix with a blender or by hand until soft and dipable! Can add a bit of milk! Dip and Sprinkle! Its pretty simple! Like chocolate dipped strawberries only with cream cheese!!!!

My kids Little Primitive Garden Pixie Door

Today my kids and I wanted to do something a little different so we created this little Pixie door! It is in my kids garden and they can have pixies!!!! The kids are so excited!!!! I thought it added a little whimsy  to all this primitive decorations of mine!!!!

I love these little guys! I put them under my candles I have so they don't leak candle wax on my furniture pieces! They are simple easy to do also!

How to Grungy, Grubby, your jars!!!!

Welcome back to OLDE SPOON RIVER HOMESTEAD and a big hello to all my followers! Its a GOOD morning today! I must of woke up on the RIGHT side of my bed today! ha-ha-ha-ha! I'm going to give a brief tutorial of How to make your canning Jars that sought after dark color! SO PRIMTASTIC!!!!
    
 INGREDIENTS NEEDED ARE AS FOLLOWS
1. Jars of any size or texture
2. Elmer's glue if you don't have any Modge Podge! Modge Podge can be found at any craft store and Wal-mart carries it also!
3.Homespun fabric
4.Spices including Cinnamon, all spice, cloves, anything dark and smelly good!
5. Paint brush or sponge
6.pan or long box with sides
7.Foil to cover pan
   DIRECTIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS
1. Take your Elmer's glue or modge podge and use your paint brush to apply a thin layer of glue to your jar! I have found that you do not want this to be globbed on because it causes it to run and look a mess!
2. Pour spices into your pan old box whatever you can find to roll spices onto your glue covered jar! Remember to cover your pan with foil because you don't want any glue on the pan or dish you cook with!
3. Take your glue coverd jar and start rolling it into your spices! Just until you get a ok coverage!
4. Let that set for 1 hour and repete the process in step 1 again! Then step 3 again and again let dry for 1 hour!
5. NOTE some will flake off thats okay just keep gradually appling the glue and spices slowly until you have reached your desired darkness or look!
6. You can then add homespun or tie cheesecloth around it and tie it with jute!!!!
                                                                I hope this tutorial helped with any questions!
